Lieutenant Colonel Tegan Musumeci (CSC), an accomplished senior Army officer, parent, and proud Moreton Bay College graduate of the Class of 2002, has dedicated 23 years to the Australian Defence Force in roles central to strengthening the nation’s operational readiness. This year, she was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross as part of the Australia Day Honours, recognising her outstanding service as Commanding Officer of Joint Logistics. Her impressive academic achievements span a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Business, Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management, Graduate Certificate in Human Nutrition, a Master of Military and Defence Studies and a Master of Strategy and Security.

Throughout her career, Lieutenant Colonel Musumeci has taken on varied appointments across the Defence logistics network. In 2023, she was appointed Commanding Officer of Joint Logistics Unit – North (JLUN), where she led the delivery of theatre logistics across the Northern Territory and the Kimberley region of Western Australia. She described the posting as a remarkable opportunity to work alongside highly dedicated professionals, crediting both her team and her family for their support throughout this demanding role.

Her leadership is characterised by collaboration, respect, and a commitment to shaping positive, sustainable change. She has often reflected on the realities of posting cycles in Defence, noting that leaders can be a “passing influence” within a longstanding culture. Her focus, therefore, has been on improving processes while maintaining the unit’s core business and identity, and ensuring that her people have genuine agency in driving solutions. These principles have guided her stewardship and strengthened the relationships that underpin effective logistics across Defence.

Lieutenant Colonel Musumeci’s work has left a clear mark on Australia’s integrated logistics capability, with her Australia Day honour citing her “outstanding achievement in the delivery of theatre logistics to the integrated forces and our allies and partners.” Her career stands as a testament to purposeful leadership: strengthening capability, empowering people, and ensuring the mission always moves forward.
