Now in its fourth year, the Wynnum Fringe is set to captivate audiences once again with a star-studded lineup of local, national, and international acts across three weeks from 15 November – 3 December… Darryl Braithwaite, Marcia Hines, Diesel, Rhonda Burchmore, Jimeoin, and Wil Anderson just to name a few!
As part of the festival, The Colleges are reinforcing their dedication to nurturing the cultural and artistic aspirations of the next generation by supporting the Youth Ambassador Pathways Program Powered by the Moreton Bay Colleges. The Program offers an invaluable opportunity for students aged 15 and above, hailing from Brisbane schools and passionate about arts and culture, to become the Festival’s Youth Ambassadors.
Behind the scenes, there's an inspiring story to the program: the Founder, CEO, and Artistic Director of the Festival, Tom Oliver, credits his artistic awakening to his high school drama teacher, Emilia Keene. Emilia encouraged Tom to join youth ambassador and volunteer programs at various art companies when he was in his senior years. By taking part in these programs, Tom realised it was more than just something fun to do at school, it was a professional career path.
Emilia currently serves as the Head of Department, The Arts at Moreton Bay College. Both Tom and Emilia are strong advocates for the Arts in nurturing young minds, providing essential life skills like confidence, communication, critical thinking, and a sense of community.
