It was a momentous occasion as we celebrated the recommissioning of Oriel Handley Hall with the official unveiling of a commemorative plaque by The Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO, former Governor-General of Australia.
This special event marked a significant milestone in the history of Moreton Bay College, honouring both the enduring legacy of a treasured space and the remarkable woman whose name it bears. Miss Oriel Ethel Handley OAM was one of the College’s most influential educators, dedicating 42 years of service as a speech and music teacher, Senior Headmistress and Vice Principal. Her leadership and commitment helped shape the culture, confidence and capabilities of generations of MBC students.
For many years, Oriel Handley Hall has stood at the heart of College life, hosting ceremonies, celebrations and performances that form an important part of our shared story. It was a privilege to come together as a community to celebrate the people and places that continue to define and enrich Moreton Bay College.
