Learning in Primary at Moreton Bay College is guided by the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), with the PYP framework used to deliver the Australian Curriculum.
As an IB PYP World School, we embrace an internationally recognised approach that prioritises student agency, empowering students to take ownership of their learning, make meaningful choices and contribute to their community through purposeful action.
Central to this approach are the Units of Inquiry, where learning is organised through transdisciplinary themes that connect subject areas and promote deep, conceptual understanding. In the early Primary years, children’s natural curiosity is nurtured and extended within a safe and supportive learning environment.

Assessment is an important part of the learning process.
Students demonstrate their understanding through a variety of assessment experiences that occur:
- Before learning begins, to understand prior knowledge
- During learning, to monitor progress
- At the conclusion of learning, to capture understanding and reflection
Each student maintains a digital learning portfolio, allowing families to follow progress and celebrate growth throughout the year.
Semester reports, ongoing feedback and conversations between students, teachers and parents support goal setting and continued development.
