Our Community Service and Service Learning activities are directed towards building relationships where our girls grow and learn. You can take action when you apply what you are learning in the classroom and beyond. IB learners strive to be caring members of the community who demonstrate a commitment to service - making a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.
MBC promotes learning through service in order to educate the whole person; develop a community of learning that actively engages in local and global problem solving; increase intercultural awareness and understanding; and among many other important learnings, create a more sustainable, more cooperative world.
Service Learning in Primary consists of daily activities such as writing messages on the Random Acts of Kindness wall and contributing to the wider community through fundraising and service activities. Service learning is firmly linked and embedded within the PYP framework. Our Learner Profile attributes of being Thinkers, Caring, Reflective, Open-Minded and Knowledgeable are all descriptions of the global, life sharing citizens we endeavor our students to become through Service Learning.
Putting beliefs into action is at the heart of Service Learning in secondary, where students explore the important link between what they believe, and what they do. Service Learning in embedded into various aspects of existing programmes to emphasise that social action is not an afterthought, but an integral element of who we are and who we wish to become.
